How to use the dialer

1/ Launch and use from the widget

  • Once the ABC Dialer application is launched, you are able to search your contacts for a phone number. Use the special keyboard to enter one or more letters (the search filter). One tap on a letter adds the left letter, for example ‘A’. A double tap or a long tap on a letter adds the right letter, for example ‘Z’. A list appears that shows all the contacts which fullname contains the filter, for example here all the contacts which fullname contains the ‘len’ syllable. Each contact shows up with its photo (you might have to configure photos in your contacts directory using the Contacts application of your phone before configuring the widget). A contact may appear multiple times if multiple phone numbers are configured for it (for example, a contact with a Home phone number and a Mobile phone number appears twice).

  • Tap on a contact entry to call the dialer with the phone number associated to this entry :

2/ Change the preferences

  • Press on the MENU key of your android device to open the options menu, then choose "Preferences" :

  • From the "Preferences" panel, you can change the keyboard layout. Three layouts are available : ABCEDF, QWERTY and AZERTY. You can also choose to go back to the old "version 1" look and feel of the application. Tap on the "Ok" button to validate your changes. Tap on the "Cancel" button to cancel the changes. Tap on the "Restore default" to restore the default preferences (QWERTY layout and "green" look and feel) :

  • The "version 1" look and feel of the keyboard :
