How to configure and use the contact widget
1/ Install
- Make a long click (or long tap or press) over a free cell (free space) of the home screen :
- In the "Add to Home Screen" menu, choose "Widgets" :
- In the "Choose widget" menu, choose "ABC Dialer" :
- The widget appears on the home screen. As for all other widgets, make a long tap on the widget to start moving it to another position on the home screen.
2/ Configure
- Once your widget has been installed, you are now ready to configure it with your own contacts ! Press the "Configure" button of the widget to start choosing your contacts :
- The configuration application (or activity) opens allowing you to configure the widget with your own contacts. Tap on a free slot (the shadowed square at the bottom of the application) :
- A list with all of your contacts appears. Each contact shows up with its photo (you might have to configure photos in your contacts directory using the Contacts application of your phone before configuring the widget). A contact may appear multiple times if multiple phone numbers are configured for it (for example, a contact with a Home phone number and a Mobile phone number appears twice). Use the special keyboard to search the contacts (this keyboard is the same one used by the ABC Dialer). One tap on a letter adds the left letter, for example 'A'. A double tap or a long tap on a letter adds the right letter, for example 'Z'. The list will show all the contacts which fullname contains the filter, for example here all the contacts which fullname contains the 'len' syllable. Tap on a contact to configure the slot you choose with that contact phone number.
- The choosen contact now appears in the widget configuration. Repeat the two preceding steps for each contact you want to add to the widget.
- Once your contacts are configured, click on the "Save the changes" button to apply your changes to the widget.
- The widget in now configured and ready to use !
3/ Use
- Once your widget has been installed and configured, you are now ready to use it !
- Tap on a contact photo to call the dialer with the phone number choosen during the configuration phase :
- Tap on the "ABC Dialer" button to launch the ABC Dialer (read more about the use of the dialer) :
- Tap on the "Phone" button to launch the Phone application :
Press the "Configure" button of the widget to start choosing your contacts
